History
Back in 1916, two Japanese companies came together and laid out plans for manufacturing automobiles. They constructed Japan’s first truck in 1919. Over the next few decades, Isuzu saw rising success in Japan and on November 10, 1984, they entered the United States market when the first Isuzu truck arrived at the Port of Jacksonville in Florida.
These vehicles had a low, cab-forward design that made them easier to maneuver. With the added bonus of these trucks being cheaper and sturdier, they quickly became popular with various businesses. In just two years, Isuzu trucks were the best-selling cab-forward trucks in the United States━and they’ve held that title to this day.
Since 1969 Isuzu trucks have been certified by R. L. Polk as the best-selling import commercial trucks in the United States. Now their trucks are engineered to be more eco-friendly, meet all greenhouse gas emission regulations, have better fuel economy, and provide greater comfort.
