When maintaining your truck, it’s likely that you largely only consider the exterior of the vehicle. Oil changes, tire-pressure checks, scratch repairs and so forth are all important tasks to do, but what about the interior of your truck cab? You’ve probably got some mess in there if you’ve been driving a lot, and no one really wants to hang out in a dirty space. A clean cab makes for a happy driver and helps you to stay more organized, too.

Draco Isuzu Truck Center is your San Diego County diesel truck dealer. As such, we’ve provided the following tips to help you tidy up your truck cab and keep it tidy while you travel for your own wellbeing.

1. Remove Trash

First, take a trash bag and fill it up with all the trash in your cab. You can sort out recyclables if you’d like to return them for the deposit and you can put any receipts in a folder to digitize later. Removing food containers promptly is a good idea, as the food residues can go bad and cause your cab to smell really bad. While you can hang up an air freshener, it’ll work a lot better if you’ve removed as many odor-causing items as possible first.

2. Vacuum

Keeping a small rechargeable handheld vacuum cleaner in your cab is a good idea, as it allows you to clean things up really quickly. Vacuum up debris from the flooring and the seats in your cab, then dispose of the debris in a trash can. You can remove the floor mats and shake or beat the dust out of them, or if they’re made of plastic, you can hose them off.

3. Wipe Dashboard

The dashboard is likely to get gross after a while, so you should take a bleach wipe or even just a damp cloth to wipe down all the knobs and dials. Don’t use a cleaner that creates a shine, as this can cause glare while you drive.

4. Clean Glass

The windows and windshield in your cab can get grimy after a while. Make sure to clean the inside of the glass panels using a glass-cleaning spray and paper towels or a newspaper. If your windows are tinted, you’ll need to exercise caution to avoid removing the tint with your cleaning process.

5. Buff Leather Seats

Make sure you’ve swept or vacuumed any crumbs or other debris off your leather seats and out of every crevice. Then, use a leather cleaner to buff and shine your leather seats to really make your cab shine. Avoid using a cleaner that could leave stains. Buff in the cleaner with a soft towel so you don’t cause any scratches.
